Solidify

The process of solidifying is the process of making powder solid. In order to make powders less than a few microns solid, it is solidified in two ways.
One is to solidify at high pressure using a CIP device.
The second method is to solidify using a hot press.
Each has the following characteristics:

For CIP

The powder can be packed in a container and submerged in water, and pressures of 1ton/cm2 or more can be applied to solidify uniformly.
This is equivalent to a pressure of 10,000 m deep.

For hot press

Pressure can be applied in a vacuum while applying heat above 1000 degrees Celsius.
By solidifying in a vacuum, the powder can be hardened without being affected by gas, such as oxygen in the air, so that the properties of the powder can be made solid as it is.

Q&A

I asked the master of “hardening”.

What’s the point of your struggles?

In order to make powders of various properties solid, it is necessary to understand the conditions such as pressure and temperature according to the characteristics of the powder.
To find this condition, every day is a series of trial and error.

Please tell me the great place of the CIP device.

The place where a large size can be done.It can correspond to a large product.

Is there anything I’m paying attention to in maintenance?

It is human stakes that maintain the device.
Even with the latest equipment, it is necessary to always work the five senses that people have to detect abnormalities in the device.

What is the difference between a CIP device and a regular press?

Normal pressism is pressure from one direction, but in the case of CIP, pressure from all directions can be exerted, so uniform molding is possible.

Why do vacuum hot presses mold in a vacuum?

Powders less than a few microns are particularly heavily oxidized by oxygen in the air, which burns up and can lead to explosion flames depending on the material. To prevent this, it is necessary to mold in a vacuum without air.
